On a residential scale, solar power is much more feasible than wind power. Unless you have a lot of land in a very windy place, wind turbines are very unlikely to be cost-effective due to intermittency and the expense of building and placing turbines. Solar panels, however, can be placed onto just about any rooftop and perform consistently.
According to Treehugger, you would need four of the largest residential wind turbines available to offset one month's worth of electricity. Furthermore, a small-scale wind system would cost eight times as much as a solar power system producing the same amount of energy.
On a national scale, which includes large-scale generation, wind power does produce more energy than solar as of 2008. According to the Energy Information Administration, of the total renewable energy generation in the United States, wind power accounts for 7% of production, compared to solar power's 1%. This is due largely to the vast expansion of large, remote wind farms in the mid- and southwest U.S., while large-scale solar power plants have increased at a much slower rate. Expect both wind and solar power to increase substantially within the next few years and beyond.

REgrid did a wonderful job for me. The entire experience went smoother than I could have imagined. I meet with many solar contractors, and right from the start, REgrid left me with the best impression. They are very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and didn’t pressure me in any way. They carefully listened to what I wanted, and delivered just that. A few days after the project was completed, I received some additional items in the mail that I was not expecting: amongst them were a booklet about solar and a helpful guide about understanding and utilizing solar. I thought that was very nice of them. They take great pride in what they do and are dedicated to their client’s fulfillment. Needless to say, I am very satisfied with the final results, and I am pleased with my decision to go with REgrid. I believe none of the other companies would have been as agreeable to work with. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend REgrid. In fact, it would be my pleasure to do so.
