with Hi speed rail just around the corner and planes that fly even faster, who in Hell needs a 500 horsepower car? American streets are for the better part falling apart! SUV’s popularity attests to this! We need better roads and highways, faster development of Hi-speed rail and a VW puddle jumper with a plug-in on it as gasoline prices itself off the market over the next few decades. The best of highways have speed limits for safety’s sake that preclude 500 horsepower! Who in Hell dreams up these monsters? Better, who in Hell buys them?

It can go 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and get 78 mpg, BUT NOT AT THE SAME TIME.

This is great news. The auto industry has always been a top down trickle effect of technology. If Porsche actually takes this to production every other car company will try something similar to be “more like Porsche.” Also it proves it can be done, the technology is there.
