Electronics Giant Sharp Promoting Solar
Pretty much all of us are familiar with the brand name “Sharp.” We know they produce TVs, VCRs, and office equipment, but did you also know that they are actively taking the lead over other electronic manufacturers in solar energy?
That’s right, The Sharp Corporation is very committed to not only reducing waste and greenhouse gases in their factories, but is a world leader in solar cell production. The goal of the company: “By 2010, the emissions avoided through the use of Sharp’s energy-creating and energy-saving products worldwide will equal our annual global emissions.”
Solar Products
Many of the products they already offer reflect this philosophy. They already offer a complete residential solar power system that is very affordable and cost effective. Their site provides this handy calculator that allows you to compare your current electrical expenses with the cost of their solar system.
In addition to solar energy, they also offer a line of energy efficient and solar-powered products. At the Hokkaido Toyako Summit (July 7 to 9, 2008), Sharp exhibited their newest environmentally conscious products. These innovative products included the 26V-inch Low Power Consumption LCD TV that uses ¼ the energy of a standard CRT TV; the Solar LED Lighting Module, a solar outdoor lighting system, and the 65V-inch Next-Generation LCD TV, which is supposed to produce an exceptional picture with zero-emissions. Proud of their industry-leading designs and capitalizing on the changing times, Sharp is currently launching an aggressive TV campaign to promote their solar systems and products.
