Solar Links: Cell Phones, Gamers, and Rock Bands

Talking on a cell phone while driving is growing in its illegality, so instead of texting and swerving, what if you could set it up on the dashboard to collect some sun? And what about handheld gaming systems? Or rock bands? This week’s solar link post reveals even more ways that solar power continues to stretch its hand and influence across our daily lives. Take, for instance, the world’s first…
Solar Powered Rock Band. Solar Punch, hailing out of New York, uses solar energy technology to power all their equipment, with a 6-hour battery back-up to boot.
Solar Cell Phones. LG and Samsung recently unveiled their prototypes of their new solar-powered cell phones, complete with solar panels built into the backside of the unit. Samsung’s Blue Earth phone is touch screen and made from recycled plastics as well.
Solar Nintendo DS? One clever gamer has devised a way, using very small solar panels, to solar charge his Nintendo DS handheld game system. The thin solar panels are attached to the top (that part that opens like a laptop) of the device. Is anyone from Nintendo having a look at this?
