This Just In: More Solar Innovations
Solar has got to be one of the most inventive markets in existence. From new gadgetry to community issues to education, solar power’s role is ever expanding. This week we have several more examples of how solar power is changing the world we live in.
Solar Bees
Sydney, Australia is having an issue with algae forming in their drinking water supply. Solar-powered water pumps, aka Solar Bees, comprise their plan to keep the water circulating and free of algae without using any chemicals that would taint the water supply.

Solar Popcorn
Elementary students in Florida are getting educated by “solar popcorn.” Florida Power & Light is combining solar energy with a favorite snack to get kids’ attention. Now you have elementary students talking about fossil fuels!

Solar Powered Key Hole Light
The days of scuffing up your front door while fumbling the key into the lock can be over. That is, if you’re into the Solar Key Hole Light, which attaches above your lock and illuminates the key hole for 10 seconds at the push of a button.

Solar Clock
Solar innovators have virtually taken the batteries out of the equation with this new solar clock. Well, there will be batteries but you’ll never have to replace them. The clock’s design is quite simple, perhaps a bit too simple.

What does all this solar gadgetry imply? That soon everybody, regardless of lifestyle, will have some use for solar power and that solar energy is getting ever more portable. It is helping to solve community issues and adding sustainability to all those little luxuries we tend to take for granted.
