What Is It About Solar Contractors?
Solar contractors seem to have something a little extra. We deal with many solar contractors on a daily basis, and there just seems to be this extra little spark that drives them. What could that be? Are they innately better than any other contractor in any other sector? I think not. I believe what sets solar contractors apart is bigger than the contractors themselves…
It is the fresh feeling of being part of a relatively young, fast growing industry. Let’s say you’re looking for a high-quality job with a high-quality future. Then you’d be hard-pressed to find a better industry than solar. Why?
Well, the solar industry is not yet a staple of American living. It is not yet just another industry that blends into day-to-day analyses of the American economy. In fact, solar is still an underdog. But it is an underdog poised to finally reach level ground and a level playing field as it competes for consumer attention. Hence you have a lot of excitement in and around the industry. Excitement that is almost tangible when speaking to solar contractors.
But is it just excitement and passion that sets solar contractors apart?
This may be their base of operations, so to speak, but it breeds dedication and a belief in what they’re doing as well. It is the notion that their work is not just a bill-paying, profit-making venture, but also a benefit for humankind. Now, there is definitely an economic drive that pushes contractors to compete in an accelerating industry, but I believe it is the prospect of an energy revolution – and being a part of that revolution – that drives solar contractors to educate themselves so that they can be informative, patient, experienced, and basically just do the job right.
The fact is that the solar industry is still proving that it can compete on a global stage. Thus solar contractors are still proving that they can play their roles – and play them above and beyond the competition. Solar contractors are not somehow better or smarter than other contractors. On the contrary, I put forth that they represent a powerful opportunity for people all over the world to be part of an inspired movement that promises a better economy, a better quality of life, and a cleaner world in which to live that life.
So what is it about solar contractors? Why, solar of course.

Being a solar contractor, I can say that toward the end of an installation, it gets exciting. There are a thousand little details that go into a good installation. Dealing with all those can be tedious at times.
However, when it comes time to flip the switch and either watch the pumps come on for the first time and feel hot water coming back from the roof or watch the inverter light up and see it start putting power into the grid for the first time, I know why I do this. It’s just plain fun.
Every system we put in, I know I am doing a good thing. Whenever I go back for a two week check up, I have never had a homeowner that was not happy with their decision to install solar
