Just seems so funny we can help people all over the world live more energy efficient but we can't even help our fellow Americans ans most of all our low incom Vetrans and the elderly. Former U.S.Army.
Now just a forgotten Vet. like always.

I believe Government Grants for Home Solar Power are going to increase in the near future.
While oil recourses are running out, every hour the sun produces 6000 times the energy consumed by the whole population for an entire year. The energy we obtain is not only free but sustainable also and no harmful gases are produced in the process. There is a lot of benefits for us by utilizing solar energy.
There is no reason why shouldn't recieve these grant!

Everyone praises these immature technologies but few discuss the true associated costs for solar generation and creation. The true ROI on these are 25-50 years!!! No wonder incentives are needed! A solar thermal system (assuming you have the low-heat system already installed) will still cost $10,000 - $20,000. Solar panels will cost you between $50k-$75k!!! Even with Fed, state, and potentially utility paybacks - it still takes 15-25 years to break even!!!

Personally, I love the idea... Yet, I can heat my 2,500 sq ft house with 3 1/2 cords of wood and 75 gal of oil for hot water... $500 bucks! I can get the wood free and pay less.... How many years will it take to make up that kind of savings???

To be able to fully utilize a solar thermal system, I would have to install radiant heat and remove carpets. So much cost and so little performance and everyone says, "it's the future." Of course it is - we can't go after domestic oil!!!

What a wonderful deal. Granting solar power systems to people. However, it's only specific in certain area, sadly. If only this was applied throughout the country. Let's all think green and save the environment. It's a just an investment for the future as applying solar power to save on energy consumption.

Good one. I hope applying for these grants isn't too hard for the people from those states.

Grants will be hard to come by unless you live in one of the states above and/or are income eligible. Financing for a roof/solar project may not be so hard to come buy. But, alas, you are far more likely to qualify for a loan than a grant. The best of luck to you!
