Between them both, Nick McDaid and Nick Gigliotti of N 2 Electric Inc. have 49 years of project management experience within the electrical trade. While this background gives them a professional edge, they realize how unique the solar niche is. They started N 2 Electric in early 2007 to make solar energy systems more accessible in the Livermore area and beyond, building their company around a model of integrity. "Our company follows all the rules," McDaid says.
Working with each customer personally, McDaid and Gigliotti ensure their clients are comfortable and familiar with the installation process. "In our proposal, we talk about what equipment we will use and how it will be installed. We answer any questions regarding the process, equipment durability and quality, and roof integrity." With an excellent track record, N 2 Electric can guarantee reliability.
Because both McDaid and Gigliotti have training in multiple systems, homeowners who work with N 2 Electric have the advantage of being matched with equipment matching their unique installation needs. "We don't use just one piece of equipment or one vendor or manufacturer – we can pick out the equipment. So many contractors are locked into a single vendor or single-package product. They can't do jobs out of the norm or have the capability to make their project fit."
N 2 Electric covers residential as well as commercial projects. Their project management background serves them well with large jobs and the electrical aspect of doing solar PV. At the same time, the company owners stay in touch with the bigger picture. Gigliotti teaches at the electrical apprenticeship program and volunteers in the community. McDaid says, "My favorite aspect of this business is that solar power works toward positive results. I'm intrigued by the way solar works. It's kind of magical knowing something that doesn't move, make any noise, or seem to be doing anything can generate electricity, just with light. I hope to see the industry continue to grow. I think it's a very great solution to our energy problems."
As far as McDaid is concerned, his hope is already en route to becoming a reality. "There's a lot more acceptance. That's the biggest thing I've seen in the last year or so. People are aware of solar and accept it more as mainstream technology, not as fringe technology. It's not a hippie thing."
