I have been interested in photovoltaic solar almost my entire life; as a young science fiction fan, I would imagine what is now here today.

I have been very active in renewable energy here in southern California, from wind to hydro and PV. There are several technologies in the R&D stage that will greatly affect the industry today, from tracking systems for PV to extremely efficient wind turbines.

Having spent my youth around Native Americans and learning their values and importance of taking care of the earth, and being married to a Julian born and raised woman who also shares these philosophies, only reinforces my desires to do what I can to help improve the quality of our planet.

In a small way we are helping now. By this year’s end, Watts New will have installed almost a quarter megawatt of solar.

It has been a personal goal of mine to make my own electricity and with the last of my life’s savings, I bought an off-grid system 12 years ago. Batteries and associated components were really a chore to maintain, so when utility connected systems came into being and with a very attractive rebate system from the state, our system was installed. Our annual utility bill for electricity has been as high as $200. However, next year it should be closer to zero. Being a PV solar dealer and owner of a company that specializes in renewable energy has been very satisfying.

Our thinking is that we are here to help people become more independent power wise.
