Nationwide Home Solar Power Contractors and Information
Solar fountains are just like other fountains, with the exception of two critical differences: they cost less and they save energy. Unlike other fountains that require plugging into an electrical power source, solar fountains run on the most powerful and cost-free energy source available: the sun.
As with many other solar products, solar fountains collect and transform sunlight into electrical energy through photovoltaic (PV) solar panels. The majority of PV cells still run on first-generation silicon wafer devices. When sunlight hits the device, electrons escape into the silicon semiconductor and become electricity. This electricity then powers the fountain’s pump. PV solar panels are either built directly onto the fountain or are attached to the fountain through a long cord.
Unlike a simple solar garden light, solar fountains need full, direct sunlight to operate at peak power. For maximum effectiveness, configure your panels away from shady foliage, perhaps by placing them on a low patio roof or on a wooden beam designed for that purpose. A solar fountain’s water movements will vary depending on the amount of sunlight received. If necessary, you may want to connect additional solar panels to your fountain. Because the fountain needs full sunlight to run, it should also come with a backup batter to operate at night.
Solar fountains can be placed on hard surfaces or mountain to walls. They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and styles.
