Solar Driveway Lights

If the sun shines there, solar power can light it up. The added fact that it requires no electric wiring  makes solar lighting especially diverse in its applications, one of those applications being the driveway.

Driveway lights in any form are quite useful. They light the way for parking cars and walking feet, as well as landscaping along the edges. Solar-powered driveway lights now have a few separate manifestations. The most common are basic solar garden lights, which are simply inserted like stakes at intervals along the edges of the drive.

A sleeker and more stylish option is solar LED pavers. These can be incorporated into the design of a new driveway or added as part of a row of pavers at the borders. These driveway lights offer the advantage of a flush integrated design. They are a very excellent option if you are considering a "pavered" driveway, and may be used in walkways, patios or anywhere in the yard.

Manufacturers of LED pavers include Maki Solar, Solarpath, Meteor Lighting and CCL Lighting. Solar-powered LED pavers are not cheap, especially if you want them to be durable enough to drive over. Meteor Lighting's pavers run between $200 and $300 each.

Solar driveway lights take about six hours to fully charge and run between 8-12 hours. Most will also collect energy on cloudy and overcast days, although the best charges come on sunny days. Quality pavers should have a lifespan of around 10 years.
