The surface of a solar pool cover consists of a film of tiny air pockets or bubbles. It is similar in appearance to bubble wrap. In this case, each bubble collects and retains heat, which returns to the water rather than being dissipated into the atmosphere.
Solar pool covers work best in sunny areas where high amounts of sunlight can be absorbed. While they help keep the pool warm during hot summer days, they can also extend the swimming season beyond summer. They also help reduce heat loss at night by insulating the pool and keeping cool temperatures and wind out.

An important thing to keep in mind is that solar pool covers aren’t specifically designed for cleanliness. They are also not meant to prevent children or small animals from entering the pool. Solar pool covers should be removed completely before swimming.
