There are so many benefits to solar lights. They don’t need wiring so they are easy to install and move around. Aside from sunlight, they require no energy source, saving money and sparing further costs on the environment. Unlike harsh fluorescent lights, solar lights produce a soft glow that works well to illuminate garden paths, sheds, patios, decks, and driveways. It’s no wonder solar lights are currently more expensive than their conventional counterparts.

Solar garden lights work by absorbing and storing energy from sunlight during the day and releasing it at night. Their configuration consists of a solar cell enclosed in a plastic case which sits at the top of the fixture. The solar cell is wired to a standard, rechargeable battery that stores energy to light the fixture at night. This is when a photoresistor detects darkness and directs the controller board to turn on the LED light.

By now, you’ve probably heard the buzz on LEDs, or light emitting diodes. Solar lights are equipped with these diodes, which conduct the electrical current without wiring. LED lights don’t burn out, can stay lit for about 10 hours, and have an average life expectancy of 25 years.

Companies like My Solar Shop sell solar flood lights, lanterns, wall mount lighting, post lights, and garden décor. The Corona is a solar light designed to be attractive and blend into the natural environment. Solar LED lights by Solar Cynergy are weatherproof and strong enough to be driven over. They are used in residents as well as in city streets.
