SunLink Chosen for Largest Solar Array

Something has to hold those solar panels on the roof, from the smallest home solar power system to the largest commercial installation. SunLink Corporation announced last week that shipments of its industry-leading rooftop mounting system had shipped out to the Recurrent Energy project in San Francisco -- a project that upon completion will be the largest municipal solar photovoltaic system in the United States.
Over 23,000 Suntech solar panels will be mounted using SunLink's system on a seismically retrofitted rooftop at the Sunset Reservoir. The 5-megawatt system will more than triple municipal generation in San Francisco when it is completed in the fall of this year. Solar power produced will be connected to the local electric grid and be used by General Hospital, the San Francisco International Airport, Muni light rail, public schools in the city and for streetlights.
SunLink was chosen for the project by Recurrent Energy. "We are pleased to have been awarded this project, particularly given its magnitude and advancement of the City of San Francisco's renewable energy goals," said SunLink CEO Christopher Tilley. "Our flagship roof mounting solution is one of the most widely adopted in the industry due to our extensive engineering, design expertise, and ability to work within a project's constraints such as this one, which required no penetrations in the Reservoir's roof surface."
