Delaware's Rebates and Incentives for Solar Energy Systems

Delaware is definitely one of the smallest states in our union; but size doesn't restrict it from having a lot to offer its residents. Delaware actually ranks somewhere in the middle compared to her sister states. Although not amongst the most-progressive solar states, Delaware definitely isn't neglecting the issue either.

Grants

  • State Sponsored Delaware Green Energy Fund's Research and Development Grant. This program offers grants up to 35% of the total cost of installing various alternative energy systems, including solar systems. Commercial or industrial sectors qualify, and the amount cannot exceed $250,000 per project.
  • Technology and Demonstration Grants. This program is also funded by the Green Energy Fund and supports projects that are furthering the development of technological advancements in alternative energy.

Rebates

  • Green Energy Program Incentive. This program is for commercial, industrial, residential, and agricultural purposes. It provides an incentive up to 50% of the installed price for various solar products. To qualify, you must meet certain criteria, which vary depending on your location and the system you are installing.

Net Metering

  • The Delaware Net Metering Program. To be eligible for this program, your solar system must generate at least 25kW of energy each year. At the end of the year, you have the option of selling your excess energy back to the utility at their wholesale rate.
